Who we are looking for:


We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic IT Apprentice to join us. This is a new and exciting
opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards an IT qualification.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion and strong interest in IT who is looking to begin their career
in a supportive and encouraging environment.


It’s a full-time office based role of 35 hours per week, 08:30 to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday, based in our
Castle Douglas office with time out for any training or learning days as part of your Apprenticeship.


What you will be doing:


You will be working with our current IT Support specialist learning all aspects of the role, supporting the
wider team and business on the smooth day to day running of our IT systems, while developing practical
experience across a range of systems and technologies.


Key tasks:

  • You will become the point of contact for the company to provide first-line technical support
    (remotely, onsite or via telephone) to all colleagues, resolving network and IT issues
  • Assisting with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of hardware (laptops and desktops) and
    software (Office 365 user accounts)
  • Supporting user account management, including password resets and access permissions
  •  Helping maintain IT systems, networks, and security protocols (firewalls, etc)
  • Troubleshooting technical hardware and software issues and escalating where necessary
  •  Assisting with system upgrades, installations, and routine maintenance
  • Maintaining accurate records of logging support requests and resolutions
  •  Collaborating with our engineers on customer projects
  •  Carrying our general administration where it is required
  •  Ensuring all work is carried out in line with company policies, including data protection

About You:

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A keen and genuine interest in IT and technology
  • A basic understanding of IT systems, in particular using MS Office and understanding various
    devices such as mobiles, iPads, desktops and laptops
  • A positive attitude, approach and enjoys helping people
  • Good problem solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to organise and prioritise IT tasks whilst taking direction from our IT Support Specialist
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills as you will be working or supporting all colleagues across the business either in person, on the phone or by email
  • Excellent customer service skills as most of your customers will be internal colleagues
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A willingness to learn, get involved and develop new skills

Training & Development:
No prior work experience required, though any relevant IT experience you have is welcomed.
You will work towards an IT qualification as part of your apprenticeship, supported by a local college or training provider. You will receive on-the-job training and mentorship to help you develop your technical and professional skills. We will also help you achieve your Microsoft Accreditation.


Throughout your learning journey, you are fully supported by your manager and mentor at work. They will ensure you settle in, help you gain an overview of what we do to allow you to support the business and develop the skills you need to be successful in your job role and your Apprenticeship.


On completion, as well as the valuable work experience you have gained, you will receive a recognised IT qualification. You also have the opportunity of a full time position upon completion of your Apprenticeship and grow your career with us.
